All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was clearly recently decorated and was very comfortable.
Comfort and convenience to Gloucester City Centre
...a slight grumble was the noise from an 'extractor' which hummed as background noise and audible in my Room 9
Very close to the city centre and also to major routes to other places of interest hotel was quiet and comfortable with adequate off street parking, service was unobtrusive but good when you needed it
rooms were in need of lighter decoration and better lights. better ventilation to rooms, very hot at night.
Excellent and friendly attitudes from the staff along with the very high standards helped make our stay memorable. This was a wedding anniversary "get-away" for us and the staff recognised this with their "congratulations" and a complimentary bottle in our room - a wonderful gesture! The food was delicious and the location proved very handy with a 5 minute walk into the town centre! We would recommend this hotel and we would be happy to stay here again when in Gloucester
No lift and so many stairs!
was a good place to stay within ideal walking distance from the transport facilities and was very easy to find. The rooms were welllooked after and were clean and comfortable
we was pleased with our stay,we had a family room, liked the way 2 rooms was split so made children going to bed easy, lovely and clean ,nice walk into town ,lots of places to eat close by ,we will stay again thanks.
having a bath instead of a shower in the family room would of been better due to having 3 young children,
We found the staff very friendly and helpful and liked the 'Edward' theme.
Comfortable and friendly
Bit dated inside but not too bad
Such a querky building, on a busy street but with peace and tranquillity at the rear with the lovely shaded patio area.
My husband and I stayed at the Edward early July 2011 for 2 days, we arrived an hour early and we had a great welcome by a lovely young lady who said our room wasn’t ready for another 10 minutes, but she gave us our key anyway, and we decided to go for a walk into town where she helpfully advised us. Location of the hotel is great for walking 10-15 mins into town. We were out for a few hours and came back about tea time to an empty hotel, and pressed the buzzer, but nobody came, so as the door was open, we found our own way to our room via a labyrinth of stairs and corridors, and eventually found it. Our room was huge and clean, with a large and comfortable bed and an equally large tv, and the bathroom was a good size and clean enough. The parking was great so we didn’t need to drive into town as it was just a short walk. The dining room quiz was a great touch, so overall not a bad stay for the money.
The general decoration was a little old and shabby in places and in need of modernising, but having said that, there were signs of redecoration taking place. And though the bathroom was adequate and clean enough, the shower drain gurgled on and off throughout the night waking me up intermittently, so I ended up laying towels over it which deadened the noise enough to enable me to sleep. Full English breakfast was ok though a little dried up, and the staff could have been a little friendlier. But for the money, not too bad a stay.
nice welcome comfortable hotel
The fact that one can park a car and leave it there throughout the day, is very useful. Also, the freedom to come and go from one's room at any time is an advantage.
The range of items offered at breakfast is rather more limited than many other hotels of similar type.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. My little boy left his special blanket behind and they posted it to him the next day. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice as well as being delicious. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be recommending it.
We were on the ground floor and there were no net curtains and the main door was half glass, so we had to keep the curtains closed while we changed.
The staff where welcoming, friendly and eager to be of assistance. The breakfast was to a very good standard and served promptly. The rooms were well kept and clean. There was a lovely little lounge area also.
